Doctor Who: more than just a theme

I’m not sure if we’re still doing the Doctor as our theme in honor of the new series starting up but I wanted to show my contribution anyway as I am so excited for the new series starting up.  Not only am I excited for the series, but I am also going to be doing some work for the Doctor Who series for IDW so this is sort of a teaser of what you can expect to see from me on the series.

I honestly believe that Doctor Who is one of the best pieces of fiction out there today and I am proud to be able to contribute to part of that mythos.

Orang-Attack!

The following is an 8 page pitch that Peter and I worked on for Zuda Comics back in the day. Sadly, it never ran there, but now you can see it here at the Comic Social Club for our Monkeys Week!

The Night Owls All Weekend!

This week marks the three year anniversary of the Night Owl’s launch on DC Comic’s groundbreaking, innovative and sorely missed webcomics imprint Zuda Comics! Since then it’s gone on to rack up three Harvey Award nominations, one LuLu Award nomination, a print collection and a host of glowing reviews!
To celebrate The Comic Social Club has a whole weekend planned of fan art and rarely seen Night Owls history! See, although its only been three years since the Night Owls launched on Zuda, it’s actually been around alot longer.
A few years before that, I’d been developing the concept for a comics class at the SVA (Nathan Schrieber, creator of the Eisner Award nominated Xeric winning Power Out, was also in that class with me). As the final assignment, I completed a 12 page comic story. Later, for my first ever 24 hour comic challenge I put together a 24 page Night Owls yarn (just pencils, no inks) where they go up against a mysterious vigilante.
Few people have ever beheld these ancient treasures.
UNTIL NOW. Behold the story that started it all. The 12 page tale called “Banished”.

Fantastic Four through the Ages: Cave Men!

I’ve always been fascinated with pre-historic humans and the wonderful wildlife they interacted with. I’ll read any article on whatever new discoveries are challenging what we thought we new, and I love those documentaries where they digitally recreate what the amazing creatures of the era might have looked like.

When thinking about Cave Men FF, my first instinct was to do something where the Torch wows the cavemen with his mastery of fire, but honestly, I wanted to include my favorite of all the pre-historic beasties, the majestic Woolly Mammoth! If there was one species I could pick to rescue from extinction, that would be it. (Seriously, all you mad cloning scientists out there. I know you have the technology! Go out there and clone a Mammoth, already! Laws be damned, this is SCIENCE.) Also, who could resist including the iconic Saber Tooth Cats with their absurd fangs? Not me, that’s who!

My personal favorite part of this drawing is the Thing, rescuing a baby Mammoth. Also, big thanks to MTV Geek for giving us a shout out this week. Much appreciated.

Bat-Tron

Bat-Tron!

Here my post this week for the Tron theme ( I think its Tron week at least… ).  Had a lot of fun working on this. Its 11 X 17, brush and ink. I was worried that my slightly sloppy style may not translate to “Tron”, but I think it works.  I added the title at the last minute to complete everything.

As a bonus I have some progress shots and the thumbnail.
