Invincible Week! Eve cleans up.
I love Invincible, it is consistently entertaining, and one of the few superhero comics I still read, but Atom Eve kinda sums up why I don’t read more.
Eve is a wasted character. Invincible just punches stuff, great, but Eve’s power is fascinating and she has the ability to truly change the world. There was a plot where she flew off to Africa to help countries get water and stuff which was awesome, but was dropped way too quickly. Continuing her societal, environmentally conscious character trait, I’ve drawn her out in the Pacific Ocean cleaning up Junk Soup by turning all the garbage into salt water. (For those who aren’t aware of the Trash Vortex, it’s a natural meeting point in the ocean where the currents converge and the wind is low, drawing all garbage dropped from boats, and even from mainland beaches. It’s twice the size of Texas!)
So, punching aliens is great and all, but I’d like to see superheroes going off the defensive and being pro-active. Eve alone could clean up Junk Soup, create pipelines between mountain runoff and lowland water-less African villages, ignite the sky in LA pink by changing all the carbon dioxide to oxygen, and turn Lemur-poaching scum’s rifles into flowers in Madagascar, in one week alone.
